About Us
Lake Chelan Valley Habitat for Humanity is a private non-profit, non-denominational Christian ministry that builds homes in partnership with qualified low-income families in the Lake Chelan Valley. We recently finished the 10th home in the valley. Lake Chelan Valley Habitat for Humanity does not build homes for families; rather, it builds alongside those who demonstrate need and willingness to partner with Habitat. Homeowner families invest 500 hours of "sweat equity" labor into the homes. Their monthly mortgage goes into a revolving fund to help with the construction of more Habitat houses in the Lake Chelan Valley.
Habitat work sites are places to build relationships as well as homes. Modeled on the biblical principles, Habitat's self-help solution to the crisis of substandard housing is accepted by people from various political, professional, ethical and religious backgrounds.
Lake Chelan Valley Habitat for Humanity depends on volunteers who are the driving force behind the organization. Individuals, churches, civic organizations and local businesses support Habitat for Humanity's mission. They also provide tax-deductible donations of money, land and materials that make the work possible. Thanks to dedicated and generous supporters, Lake Chelan Valley Habitat For Humanity is making a difference in the valley.
